our new "home office"

When Mike and I bought our home a little over 2 years ago, we knew that the laundry room space on the first floor had lots of potential; our original plan had been to renovate the room into a full-fledged bathroom, but that kind of a project is more than a little bit out of our budget for now.  Last fall we made over the room into a little playroom for the Natifuster, which was a perfect, cozy, little space to see her through a winter of indoor play.  Sometime around her first birthday, though, she started to outgrow the space and we (read:  I) began brainstorming new ways to make the room more functional.

After toooooons of time on Pinterest, I finally felt like I had enough small-space-home-office inspiration to officially transform our laundry room into a dual-purpose home office.  Mike was on board, and we have been chipping away at this project together over the past couple of weeks.  Here's the almost-finished product (I'm still waiting on an area rug & a couple more decorative touches).  Let me know what you think!

The little closet that could was transformed with the help of some ClosetMaid storage from Home Depot, and a simple piece of shelving mounted as a "desk."  The chair (which I loooove) is a steal we found at TJ Maxx.

One of the still-unfinished spots in the room is Natalie's mini-office.  I painted one of our old end tables to match the room, and paired it with a tiny desk chair.  I want to mount a couple of small shelves on the wall to keep some of her books in there, and will store some of her toys in the room, as well.  So far Natalie loves the room, especially dancing in the open space and sitting at her "desk" to do some coloring.

I'm so excited to have a more structured home office setting, and a place to better organize my crafting supplies.  The next project to follow this one will be a bloggy makeover in the near future.  I want my online space to feel as updated & organized as the spot where my laptop resides.
