sundays are my favorite

Sundays are the best. They have always been my favorite day of the week. Well, at least since I started having favorite days of the week.

Today is an especially wonderful Sunday already--Natalie woke up at 5:45 (!!!!) after sleeping through the night (!!!!!!!!!), to a dusting of snow and flurries still in the air. The three of us went out to breakfast first thing. On the menu: sausage gravy & biscuits for Mikey, and the Mermaid's Purse Omelet for me (Scallops, shrimp, and crab in an omelet, smothered in hollandaise. Good luck not drooling all over your keyboard while you think on that one.), and a happy parade of smiles, half-waves, claps, and squeals from the budge while she dined on egg yolks scrambled with breast milk and garlic, and a bit of rice cereal with a blueberry & cantaloupe mixture, too. She was so exceptionally good during the meal, and attracted lots of attention with her flirty noises and happy faces. After breakfast it was laundry time for the adults and naptime for the Natifuss.

And now I am enjoying a blissful couple of hours to myself in our empty house while Santa Baby* and her Daddy run errands and go out for lunch. My agenda is simple: Christmas gift wrapping, solo dance party, and a (not only pre-5pm but pre-12pm) glass of vino. The tree is lit up, the heat is on, and I'm back in sweatpants for the day.

Yup, Sundays don't get much better than this.

*in the interest of full-disclosure: the Santa Baby suit picture is from yesterday. Today Natalie is less Santa and more Elmo, thanks to her almost-too-small thrifted snowsuit.
