In typical fashion, Natalie balanced out the horror that was Saturday with one of the best Sundays ever. We headed out for some apple picking at School House Farm and enjoyed a cool fall day amid the trees all to ourselves. Mike was especially excited to sample all of the different varieties, and probably ate about 9 apples in the hour that we were there.
Here are some photos from our trip:

The funniest moment of the day came when we decided to let Natalie have her first taste of apple. We picked out an especially tart one (I know, I know, we're such mean parents), and let her go at it.
....and she was not a fan AT ALL.
It was too funny to watch her give a good hearty suck on the juice, then recoil in shock at the taste. She kept going in for more licks, though, despite being disappointed each time.
I'm quite sure that once she has yummy pureed apples in a couple of weeks she'll feel differently about fruit.
It was such a great day, and such a needed day after the previous trying 24 hours. On our evening walk, Mike even said, "What a nice weekend!" before realizing that it was just the day before that had been so atrocious. It must be nice for Natalie to know that she has the power to completely erase all our memory of her worst moments just by licking an apple...
She's soooo frigging smooshable! Great photos! Um, yeah, kids are great at saying the RIGHT thing just as you're about to list them on eBay.
ReplyDeleteThe first time we took Jojo applepicking (he must have been close to a year), he ate three entire apples in one day. Seeds, stems, everything. And he was just fine. We didn't mean for it to happen, but we'd turn around and he'd be gnawing the remains. Seriously, no diarrhea, upset stomach. The boy still loves his apples, and thankfully, our neighbors have an apple tree in their front yard that he "prunes" for them. OMG but enough about my kids, does Natalie have a pumpkin hat for the next farm trip?!?!
i seriously think you should be writing a book about the hilarity that is your children! most especially include that story about the apple, and the story of his new skirt :)
