it's beginning to look a lot like christmas

It's the annual Festival of Lights weekend here in Rockland, which means our sleepy little seaside town is bustling like it's still mid-July or something.  All the local stores have sales, there are activities for kids at the art museum, Santa rode into town on a Coast Guard ship yesterday, the Lobster Trap Christmas Tree is officially lit up for the season, and tonight there's a nighttime parade through town.  It's great fun to enjoy this stuff with Natalie, although I'm not sure how much enjoyment she got out of meeting Santa yesterday:

After meeting Santa she just kept crying "Claus!  Claus!" which we determined to mean that she thought that Santa had actual "claws."  Or something.  We tried to bring her back around to have a more positive introduction, but she wanted no part of it.

We did manage to get a pretty decent family photo nearby Santa's workshop:

We've been enjoying time with Natalie's Bampa and Mimi this weekend, too.  They came with us to the lighting of the Lobster Trap Tree, and we all got breakfast and did a little toy shopping this morning.  If the weather remains this mild we'll surely be checking out the Lights Parade tonight.

Can it always be vacation, please??
