natster the chatster

When I was pregnant, Mike boasted that he could get our daughter to say all the months of the year and days of the week by the time she turned 18 months old. I told him he was crazy. He was so confident, that he bet $100 on it. I have been looking forward to my big payday ever since.

Well, we are in the home stretch: Natalie is just weeks away from hitting the 18 month mark (wah!). Mike has been doubling his efforts to teach Natalie her months and days, and I am both bummed (am I really going to be out $100?!) and super proud to admit that she's definitely catching on and repeating some of them pretty frequently. Video evidence below.

This is actually the longest video ever of me trying to get lots of footage of Natalie's words. I don't expect you to sit through 5 minutes of her jamming her toothbrush case in her mouth while I make her repeat everything I say. The months & days section is all the way at the end, around the 3 minute & 45 second mark.

If you want just the best parts of the whole video, jump to 1:10 to watch Natalie pinch her own cheeks & 1:28 for her classic "Oh my!" & 3:24 to hear Natalie's version of cock-a-doodle-do ("A-Do-Do-Do!").

  2. While I suspect Mikey's going to LOOOOOSE and have to pay you shoe money, Natalie is so, so sweet and clever.

I loved her rendition of show and tell with her toes!

  3. Wow, that was adorable!!!!! My son doesn't have as many words as Natalie but he still wouldn't even attempt to humor me by repeating all those words. Eeeeek, her top is the cutest!
