Mike and I are both so excited to start our family, though the initial shock of that first pregnancy test was pretty intense....
After taking a moment to adjust to the news that we are going to be parents, we began making a panicky list of all the things we (I) shouldn't have been doing while pregnant... painting the house, lugging heavy boxes and furniture throughout our move, drinking wine (and tequila... and vodka...) to celebrate the house closing, and eating all the deli meat and goat cheese I could get my hands on. Oh, well. We're hoping all those mis-steps will result in an extra quirky child.
The best part about this new development in our lives has been sharing the news with family and friends. Reactions have ranged from joyful tears to shocked silence to "I knew it!" to "But I'm not old enough to be a grandfather!" It's been hard to keep things quiet through this first trimester, especially because everyone has been so happy for us and eager to spread our good news. We're relieved that the riskiest part of the pregnancy is almost behind us and we can finally tell anyone and everyone how excited we are.
I thought a blog would be a good way to keep people updated on this latest adventure... We hope you enjoy reading along as I fatten up and Mike learns to handle my roller coaster emotions!
